Introduction to Instructing Circuits

Circuits is one of the most popular and long standing group exercise classes. Regularly accessed by thousands of people every week in the UK it is an opportunity for fitness professionals to increase earning potential and work in a social and motivating atmosphere.

This qualification is for those wishing to become qualified to deliver group exercise sessions in a circuit format in a health club environment.

Entry requirements for Instructing Circuits

A REPs recognised Level 2 Fitness Instructing qualification
Some experience of circuit training is useful
The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary

Objectives of Instructing Circuits

To develop learner’s ability to plan and deliver safe and effective circuit training sessions
Understand group circuit training
Understand different methods of circuit training
Understand the implications of using music in a circuit training session
Understand the role of the circuit training instructor
Know the safety considerations when teaching circuit training sessions
Plan and instruct a safe and effective circuit training session
Demonstrate a range of communication and evaluation skills appropriate for the circuit training session
Undertake an evaluation of their own performance and prepare an action plan for improvement

How will you learn for Instructing Circuits

Learners will do a blended study approach. The course duration is expected to last 1-2 months.

All Learner are supported with:

Manual
Tutor phone and e-mail support
Workshop Days

Learners will attend 2 weekend workshop days to achieve this Award.

NB: Students may be required to bring 2 participants to their assessment day.

How can I pay for the Instructing Circuits Course

Learners must pay in full via Cheque or Card at the time of booking.

Qualification structure and assessment for Instructing Circuits

This qualification comprises of 2 units:

Unit 1 Planning a Circuit Training Session
Unit 2 Instructing a Circuit Training Session

Assessment:

Designing of a circuits session
Assessor observation instructing a circuit session

Successful achievement of both units must be achieved for the full qualification.
