CMS AND KAL
Forming ongoing associations with partners is an important part of our approach to training, which is why CMS Fitness Courses (CMS Fitness) and CMS Vocational Training (CMS VOC) have established an excellent working relationship with Kirklees Active Leisure (KAL).
The organisations have worked together since 2009 and there has been a steady but sustainable growth in the annual number of learners CMS has trained for KAL, with the total figure at around 150, of which more than 70 followed an apprenticeship.
OUTSTANDING APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR
To mark the achievement of training over 150 learners as an apprenticeship and training provider to KAL, CMS Fitness Courses sponsored the Outstanding Apprentice of the Year Award at the annual KAL Celebration Event.
The winner was Dominick Livesey, who works at Scissett Baths & Fitness Centre in Huddersfield. He was singled out for praise for his continual hard work and commitment while completing his Intermediate Level Apprenticeship in Customer Service with CMS Vocational Training. CMS VOC Contract Manager Hadyn Luke presented the award at John Smith’s Stadium.
HOW HAS THIS PARTNERSHIP BENEFITED LEARNERS?
Many learners training through CMS have success stories to tell, including gaining promotions and attaining their goals.
They include learners who have improved their skills in maths and English from Entry Level 3 to Level 2 (GCSE A-C standard).
There have also been numerous cases of apprentices who have progressed to full-time roles or who have been able to secure additional responsibilities and attract a higher salary in their existing workplace.
Finally, CMS has helped full-time staff at KAL to be involved in company specific CPD. This has allowed them to upskill and develop their role into competent KAL-employed personal trainers.
KAL – ITS HISTORY AND FACILITIES
Established in 2002, Kirklees Active Leisure manages 14 leisure facilities and swimming pools on behalf of Kirklees Council, with the aim of helping “more people, become more active, more often”. A charitable trust, it reinvests any surplus money into improving its services and facilities – over £200m to date.
Most recently, it has built a brand new £36m state-of-the-art leisure centre in central Huddersfield, with a 25m competition pool, a training pool and splash park, plus two sports halls, a fitness suite and a range of other facilities.
BENEFITS OF WORKING WITH KAL
By partnering with KAL, CMS Fitness is able to deliver its Level 2 and Level 3 Personal Trainer courses in a first-class setting.
Other benefits of the partnership include:
