Circuits are one of the most popular and long-standing groups exercise classes. Regularly accessed by thousands of people every week in the UK it is an opportunity for fitness professionals to increase earning potential and work in a social and motivating atmosphere.
The Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuits is for those wishing to become qualified to deliver group exercise sessions in a circuit format in a health club environment.
The Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuits is recognised by the Register of Exercise Professionals at Level 2.
How Do I Start?
When you enrol on the Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuits you will receive your joining instructions via email giving you access to your learning resources.
The resources are divided into unit order providing you with the relevant manuals, worksheets, and documents required to help you complete your learning and prepare for your workshop/assessment days.
There are two units for the Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuits:
- Unit 1: Planning a circuit training session worksheet
- Unit 2: Planning, Instructing and evaluating a circuit class
It is recommended that you complete and email your Unit 1 knowledge based worksheet to us before you attend the workshop.
The submission of any work is not final and can be amended once marked by one of the CMS team and feedback was given. However, we insist that all work submitted is fully completed to a high level prior to submission.
You are expected to complete your documents for Unit 2 during and after your attendance on workshop day 1 and submit them on day 2. They include:
- Session plan
- Circuit layout
- Circuits Card(s)

Learners enrolled on the Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuits must:
Hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing (GYM) qualification or equivalent.
Some experience of circuit training is useful.
The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
This course must be paid for in full at the time of booking.
The Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuits requires the achievement of the below units through completion of the required assessments.
Unit 1: Planning a Circuit Training Session
Unit 2: Instructing a Circuit Training Session
Practical Assessment & Self Evaluation
Your practical assessment involves you delivering your circuit layout under assessor observation. Please note students may be required to bring their own participant(s) to the assessment day.
You will have the opportunity to practice your delivery during the first workshop day and all documents and components of the assessment will be explained to you by your workshop tutor.
Students may be required to bring 2 participants to their assessment day.
Completion of the Level 2 Award in Instructing Circuits is not a pre-requiste for any additonal courses.
