Studio Cycling is a very popular group exercise in the fitness industry offering additional learning opportunities for fitness professionals.

Studio Cycling can offer your clients a fun and sociable atmosphere in which to increase their fitness level. This course is designed to allow you to teach a variety of sessions for all fitness abilities.

The Level 2 Award in Instructing Studio Cycling is recognised by REPs at Level 2.

Course Details

How Do I Start?

When you enrol on the Level 2 Award in Instructing Studio Cycling you will receive your joining instructions via email giving you access to your learning resources.

The resources are divided into unit order providing you with the relevant manuals, worksheets, and documents required to help you complete your learning and prepare for your workshop/assessment days.

Pre-workshop Learning

There are two units for this qualification:

  • Unit 1: Planning a studio cycling session
  • Unit 2: Instructing a studio cycling session

Unit 1 consists of a knowledge-based worksheet and a session plan. It is recommended that you complete and email your Unit 1 knowledge based worksheet to us before you attend the workshop. You are expected to complete your session plan document after your attendance on day 1 of the workshop and submit it on day 2.

The submission of any work is not final and can be amended once marked by one of the CMS team and feedback was given. However, we insist that all work submitted is fully completed to a high level prior to submission.

Practical assessment

Your practical assessment involves you delivering your studio cycling session plan under assessor observation. Please note students may be required to bring their own participant(s) to the assessment day.

You will have the opportunity to practice your delivery during the first workshop day and all documents and components of the assessment will be explained to you by your workshop tutor.

CMS Fitness Courses - Resources

Level 2 Award in Instructing Studio Cycling learners are required to be:

Aged 16 years or over

Hold a Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing

Our highly skilled tutors will adapt their delivery to support all learner requirements but we recommend that you have some experience of studio cycling.

You should be fit enough to cope with the physical exertion and individual participation involved in the course.
