Course Details

This Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage is for those individuals that wish to learn and develop the knowledge and skills to be able to provide sports massage therapy to a range of clients who have no underlying pathological conditions and are looking to develop the skills that will help them register with the Sports Therapy Organisation (STO).

How Do I Start?

When you enrol on the Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage you will receive your joining instructions via email giving you access to your learning resources.

The resources are divided into unit order providing you with the relevant manuals, worksheets, case study documents and mock exams required to help you complete your learning and prepare for your workshop/assessment days.

Pre-workshop Learning

It is recommended that you complete and email your knowledge based worksheets to us before you attend the workshop.

They include:

  • Unit 1: Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Massage worksheet
  • Unit 2: Principles of Health and Fitness worksheet
  • Unit 3: Understand the Principles of Soft Tissue Dysfunction worksheet
  • Unit 4: Professional Practice in Sports Massage worksheet
  • Unit 4: Professional Practice in Sports Massage Assignment- this is completed during the workshop
  • Unit 5: Sports Massage Treatments worksheet

The submission of any work is not final and can be amended once marked by one of the CMS team and feedback was given. However, we insist that all work submitted is fully completed to a high level prior to submission.

Workshop Attendance

Can you please attend wearing appropriate leisure clothing that will give access to most parts of your body, so that your peers can practice their sports massage treatments on you. The workshops will include physical activity and we cannot guarantee access to changing rooms and showers. In addition, you are expected to provide your own refreshments. For the respect of other users of our venues, please bring a gym towel.

Throughout the workshop days, our experienced tutors will support you to ensure your full participation and give guidance on what work needs to be completed and by when, to ensure that you can successfully complete the workshop.

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification.

Performing sports massage is a physical activity and learners will need to be fit enough to carry this out.

Multiple Choice Exam Paper

The exam is sat on day 6 of the workshop. If you refer an exam you can book to re-sit the exam on one of our planned re-sit days. You can re-sit an exam as many times as needed, however CMS Fitness Courses has a responsibility to ensure that teaching and learning occur in between each exam to promote learner development and quality of delivery.

Practical Assessments

Your practical assessment(s) involve you being observed by your tutor/assessor collecting client information, planning a variety of sports massage treatments and applying the treatment(s) to your client. These treatments include:

  • Pre-event Massage
  • Post-event Massage
  • Inter/Intra-event Massage
  • Maintenance Massage

Please note students may be required to bring their own participant to the assessment day(s).

You will have the opportunity to practice your consultation and massage treatments throughout the workshop. All components of the assessment will be explained by your tutor.
